Even though it’s only March, it has already been a note-worthy year. In light of that, I have begun thinking about putting together a time capsule for “Buddy.” This wouldn’t be anything too complicated; just a package that he could open when he’s 25 or 30 that contains some items that represent key moments from the year he was born.
For instance, on my list so far I have:
- A Washington Post from Obama’s inauguration day
- The last Rocky Mountain News ever published (it’s a big deal that Denver is no longer a 2-paper town)
- A DVD of “Slumdog Millionaire”– the Best Picture winner for this year
- The new U2 CD (very monumental to Buddy’s mom
) - The week he is born, I’ll pick up a few magazines (e.g., Newsweek, People)
Do you have any suggestions? Nat suggested putting in an articles on any new cutting-edge technology that comes out this year. I’m sure that will get a good laugh in 30 years! Hmm… maybe I can even record some TV shows and commercials from this year (if I can figure out how to do that with a DVR).
Do you have any suggestions for things I can store this year? I’m open to ideas! Just keep in mind, I don’t want the box to be too big; after all, we’re going to have to store it for him for 30 years.
